Overview

Brand Marketing Expert

A skill covering brand strategy, identity, and voice - positioning statement template, brand pyramid, visual/verbal identity elements, a brand-voice spectrum, and brand metrics, plus a six-part brand audit framework. Use it when defining or auditing brand positioning, identity, or voice, not for campaign or ad-creative execution.

What it does

This is a deep-expertise skill for building and managing brands, covering brand strategy (positioning, brand architecture, value-proposition development, competitive differentiation, brand narrative), brand identity (visual identity systems, verbal identity, brand guidelines, tone of voice, brand applications), and brand management (consistency, brand-equity measurement, brand extensions, rebranding, co-branding). It provides a brand-pyramid framework (Product/Service to Attributes to Benefits to Personality to Purpose) and a fill-in positioning-statement template: "For [target customer], who [need/opportunity], [Brand] is a [category] that [key benefit]; unlike [competitors], we [differentiator]."

Visual identity elements covered: logo/logomark, color palette, typography, imagery style, iconography, and design system. Verbal identity elements: brand name, tagline, voice and tone, key messages, terminology, and story framework. A brand-voice table maps four spectrum dimensions - formal/casual, serious/playful, expert/accessible, and reserved/enthusiastic. Brand metrics tracked: brand awareness, brand recall, Net Promoter Score, brand sentiment, share of voice, and brand equity value. A brand audit is broken into six components: internal brand review, customer perception research, competitive analysis, visual/verbal audit, touchpoint assessment, and recommendations.

When to use - and when NOT to

Use it when defining or auditing a brand's positioning, identity system, or voice - writing a positioning statement, building brand guidelines, or scoping a brand audit. It is not a campaign- or channel-execution skill: it covers brand strategy and identity, not media planning or ad-creative production.

Inputs and outputs

Given a brand name, target customer, and category, it can produce a positioning statement, a brand-voice profile scored against the four-dimension spectrum, and a structured brand-audit checklist across the six audit components.

Who it's for

Brand, marketing, and design leads defining or refreshing a brand's positioning, visual/verbal identity, or governance.
