Overview
PlaceCall
PlaceCall carries out plain-English tasks on real outbound calls to US businesses. The hosted API returns a structured outcome, transcript, and recording, and can ask the user questions during a call. Use it for a business inquiry, booking, cancellation, or quote by phone. When no number is available, start with business suggestions and call briefs.
What it does
PlaceCall is a hosted API for placing real outbound phone calls to US businesses. A voice agent carries out a task expressed in plain English, such as making an inquiry, arranging a booking, requesting a cancellation, or obtaining a quote. During the call, it works through phone menus and hold periods and can send the user a question when clarification is needed.
When to use - and when NOT to
Use it when a task needs to be handled by calling a US business. A known phone number is not required to begin: the API can first suggest businesses to call and write a call brief for each one. The calling scope described here is US businesses; use that scope when deciding whether the requested task fits.
Inputs and outputs
The call task is given in plain English. After the call, the API returns a structured outcome, a transcript, and a recording. Suggested businesses and their call briefs support the earlier step of choosing whom to contact when the user has no number.
