Thales CipherTrust Manager MCP Server
This unofficial MCP server wraps the ksctl CLI to expose Thales CipherTrust Manager operations - key management, CTE client management, users, connections, clusters, licenses, and crypto operations - to AI assistants over JSON-RPC. Use it to manage CipherTrust Manager keys and crypto operations conversationally. It is independently maintained, not endorsed by Thales, and provided with no warranty - test thoroughly before production use.

CipherTrust is a Thales trademark and this project is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Thales Group. Because it manages cryptographic keys and access, treat its credentials and any operations it performs with the same caution as any other high-privilege security tool.
Capabilities
Each capability area is exposed as a tool invoked with an action parameter - for example key_management with action=list to enumerate keys (optionally bounded with a limit) or action=get for a single key's details, and system_information with action=get for server status - the same action-based pattern extends to CTE client, user, connection, cluster, and license management tools, all configurable via environment variables.

Additional variables control request timeout, the CipherTrust domain and auth domain, ksctl binary and config paths, and log level. Run it directly with uv run ciphertrust-mcp-server or as a module. For Cursor, add a custom MCP entry under Settings > MCP Tools pointing at the virtual environment's ciphertrust-mcp-server binary; for Claude Desktop, add the equivalent entry to claude_desktop_config.json and restart. Testing options include the MCP Inspector in both UI and CLI modes, Python unit tests, and integration tests against a real CipherTrust Manager instance.

⚠️ Important: Before starting, either the environment variable or .env should contain a valid CipherTrust Manager URL.
You have two main ways to run the CipherTrust MCP Server:
Method 1: Direct Execution

This runs the main() function in ciphertrust_mcp_server/__main__.py.
