Overview

PostHog MCP Server

PostHog MCP is the official Model Context Protocol server for PostHog analytics, now maintained in the PostHog monorepo, installable via the @posthog/wizard CLI into Cursor, Claude, Claude Code, VS Code, or Zed. Use it to connect an MCP client to PostHog for analytics. Refer to the official documentation and monorepo location for current tool details, since this repository has been superseded.

What it does

PostHog MCP is the official Model Context Protocol server for PostHog, the product analytics platform. The server's source now lives inside the main PostHog monorepo rather than this standalone repository, which serves as a pointer to the current location and installer.

When to use - and when NOT to

Use it when you want to connect an MCP-compatible client - Cursor, Claude, Claude Code, VS Code, or Zed - to PostHog for AI-assisted product analytics work. For the current tool capabilities and detailed usage, refer to the official documentation at posthog.com/docs/model-context-protocol and the server's current home in the PostHog monorepo (github.com/PostHog/posthog/tree/master/services/mcp), since this repository no longer hosts the server's implementation details.

Capabilities

See the official documentation (posthog.com/docs/model-context-protocol) for the current list of tools and capabilities, as this repository has been superseded by the PostHog monorepo location.
