Overview
Access NASA Data and Analyze Images
What it does
This MCP server provides access to NASA's public APIs for astronomical images and data. It includes tools for Astronomy Picture of the Day, Mars rover photos with camera options, near-Earth object data, Earth satellite imagery from DSCOVR's EPIC camera, GIBS high-quality Earth imagery, and an image analysis tool with automatic format detection and base64 conversion. Requires Python 3.8+ and a free NASA API key.
How it connects
Use this connector when you need to retrieve NASA astronomical images, Mars rover photographs, asteroid approach information, or Earth satellite imagery. The image analysis tool returns imagecontent format currently supported only in Claude 4. Note that NEO data queries are limited to 7-day ranges per NASA API constraints.
